Breakthrough Brain Tumor Therapy Wins GT Medical Technologies a 2021 American Business Award®

FDA-Cleared GammaTile® Therapy Is Designed to Delay Tumor Regrowth for Patients With Brain Tumors While Protecting Healthy Brain Tissue

TEMPE, AZ | April 29, 2021 – Recognized for its breakthrough GammaTile® Therapy that improves the lives of patients with brain tumors, GT Medical Technologies was named the winner of a Silver Stevie® Award in the category of Small Company of the Year - Health Products & Services in the 19th Annual American Business Awards®. More than 3,800 nominations – a record number - from organizations of all sizes and in virtually every industry were submitted this year for consideration.

“We are honored to be recognized for the progress we have made toward our company purpose of improving the lives of patients with brain tumors since we first launched GammaTile Therapy in 2019,” said Matt Likens, president, and CEO of GT Medical Technologies. “Every person facing the diagnosis of a brain tumor deserves to know about this life-altering treatment that has helped patients in top brain tumor centers across the U.S.”

GammaTile Therapy consists of tiny tiles, no bigger than postage stamps, implanted in the last five minutes of brain tumor removal surgery, providing immediate radiation therapy to a highly targeted area. Patients receive their radiation treatment while going about their daily life, without the need for daily trips to a medical center for external radiation and most often without the unpleasant side effect of hair loss. Over time and after a therapeutic dose of radiation has been delivered, the tile naturally resorbs into the adjacent tissue. There is no need for additional surgery to remove it.

More than 250 professionals worldwide participated in the judging process to select this year’s Stevie Award winners. One of the judges of the GT Medical Technologies award entry commented, “This is very impressive technology for the medical field. The fact that a patient wouldn't need to go repeatedly for radiation/chemo treatments and can just be treated once with this therapy is amazing.”
